The safest assumption
If a Sora draft, prompt, or video matters to you, save it yourself. Do not assume drafts, in-app libraries, feed links, or export links will remain reliable after the official Sora shutdown.
OpenAI's Help Center says the Sora web and app experiences are discontinued on April 26, 2026. Around that date, creators should treat every important Sora asset as at risk unless they already have a local copy.
What to save
Save more than the final MP4.
- Published videos.
- Drafts and unfinished clips.
- Prompt text.
- Captions and titles.
- Thumbnails or still frames.
- Public profile URL.
- Video URLs.
- Views, likes, remixes, replies, and posted dates.
- Any proof of ranking, milestone, or notable remix activity.
The file is the artwork. The metadata is the history.
What SoraStats can help with
SoraStats cannot replace the creator's own official export. It can preserve and organize the public context around Sora:
That public context matters when people later ask which creators shaped Sora, which videos went viral, and which posts inspired remixes.
Drafts need special care
Drafts are easy to lose because they may not have the same public URL, ranking context, or archive footprint as published posts. If a draft matters, keep a local copy and write down the prompt, date, and intended project.
For portfolio use, also save a clean still frame. A still image is useful for thumbnails, social posts, media kits, and personal documentation even if video hosting changes later.
After shutdown
After the official app is gone, the useful question changes from "can I still generate?" to "can I still prove and show what happened?"
Use local backups for your private work. Use SoraStats for public discovery, ranking context, and historical browsing.
