The short version
OpenAI's Help Center says the Sora web and app experiences are discontinued on April 26, 2026. The practical result is simple: creators should not depend on the official Sora app as the place where their work remains discoverable.
SoraStats exists for the second half of that problem: the public record. The official export is where creators should save their own source files. The SoraStats archive is where people can keep browsing public creator rankings, video rankings, and creator history.
Timeline
- February 2024: OpenAI previews Sora as a text-to-video model.
- Late 2025: Sora becomes a public social video app for AI-generated clips.
- March 24, 2026: OpenAI announces Sora will be discontinued.
- April 26, 2026: Sora web and app experiences are discontinued.
- After shutdown: creators and viewers look for exports, old video links, rankings, and historical context.
What disappears
The most fragile parts are the official app experience, in-app discovery, drafts, library browsing, feed links, and any workflow that assumes Sora is still the source of truth.
If you created with Sora, save your own files directly from the official export path when available. If you are researching what mattered on Sora, use archive pages that preserve public metadata and rankings.
What SoraStats preserves
SoraStats organizes public Sora history around the questions people keep asking:
- Which Sora videos were the most watched?
- Which videos earned the most likes?
- Which videos were remixed the most?
- Which creators shaped the platform?
- What public context survives after the original app goes away?
Start with:
- Best Sora Videos
- Most Viewed Sora Videos
- Most Remixed Sora Videos
- Top Sora Creators
- Sora Creator History Archive
Why the archive matters
Raw downloads preserve files. Rankings preserve meaning.
When a platform shuts down, a video without its creator, views, likes, remix count, and ranking history loses much of its context. SoraStats keeps that public context browsable so creators, fans, researchers, and journalists can understand the Sora era after the app itself is gone.
